When was starlight foundation started

Integrity: We do what we say we will do to make a positive change for seriously ill children and their families. Respect: We encourage diversity of identity, perspective, and backgrounds to create a more inclusive organization to better serve seriously ill kids and families of all races and ethnicities.

The early s witnessed the rise of philanthropic commitment to pediatric care. As a pioneer in this humanitarian endeavor, Starlight is proud to take its place among beloved charities supporting this critical issue. Some children ask for items that will change their life, like a mobile phone or laptop so they can keep in touch with their friends when they are stuck in hospital for a long time.

Other children prefer to ask for a wish that they can share with all of their family - a holiday such as a trip to Disneyland that will give them a lasting memory, whatever the future may hold. One little girl asked to see a rainbow and another wished to have three stars named after her, her brother and her sister so she could still speak to them in heaven.

Whether it is meeting their pop idol, being a policeman for the day or even baking a cake for HM The Queen, no wish is too extraordinary or daring for Starlight to try to grant. We work alongside clinicians, wherever they go, from by the bedside in a major paediatric hospital to mobile clinics visiting remote communities. Working in partnership to deliver the best possible care for children and young people across the whole country, so that they can live their best lives.

Who we are. Our people We shine brightly for sick kids in everything we do. Find out more.
