How does hsbc secure key work
Press the green button to enter your PIN again. Your Secure Key will remember the number of failed attempts you have made. Once you have the code, press the green button lightly and quickly - but do not hold it down. You will then be prompted to input the code. We will mail the replacement to your home and it should arrive within 10 days. Think of a PIN between 4 and 8 digits long.

Secure Key is waiting for you to enter your PIN. The number of dashes shown on the screen, is equal to the number of digits in your PIN. This is the welcome screen. You will see this once your PIN has been accepted. Press the green button to generate your security code. The PIN entered is incorrect. You should have already registered for online banking and chosen a Digital Secure Key.

You should have already registered for online banking and selected physical Secure Key You will need to have received your Secure Key in the post this will take between working days.
Enter your username, this is only required if you have not selected 'remember my username' and select 'continue'. The 'With Secure Key' tab will already be selected for you. Enter your Digital Secure Key password and select 'Generate'. Enter this code into the required field on online banking within the given time limit and select 'Log on'. Follow the on-screen instructions within online banking to 'Generate Security Code'. The security code will be shown on your Secure Key screen.
Enter the security code into the field on your mobile device. If you do not have your physical Secure Key you can still switch over to Digital Secure Key by contacting us on 00 61 Confirm that you have a compatible device and continue to activate. Answer your memorable question and the requested characters from your password, select 'continue'.
You will be prompted to activate your Digital Secure Key now or later, choose 'activate now'. Generate and enter a security code from your physical Secure Key and select 'continue'. Choose how you'd like to receive your activation code and select 'continue' please be aware that SMS is the quickest option. Confirmation will be shown. Your Digital Secure Key has been set up and you can now log on.
